Vinod Khanna was an Indian veteran actor was born on 6th October 1946 and died on 27 April 2017. He was also a producer and politician. He was the sitting MP from Gurdaspur (between 1968 and 2013). He died on 27 April 2017 after battling with cancer.
Personal Life – He was born in a Punjabi family to Kamla and Kishanchand Khanna, a textiles, dyes and chemicals businessman, on 6 October 1946, in Peshawar, British India (now in Pakistan).
He has three sisters and one brother. Shortly after his birth, India was partitioned and the family left Peshawar and reached Mumbai.
He studied at St. Mary’s School, Mumbai until class II and then transferred to St. Xavier’s High School, Delhi. In 1957. He graduated with a commerce degree from Sydenham College, Mumbai.
In 1971 Vinod Khanna married Geetanjali in 1971 and had two sons with her, Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna. In 1975, Khanna became a disciple of Osho (Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh).
Death – After being hospitalized to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center in Girgaon ,Mumbai for a few weeks, Khanna passed away on the morning of April 27, 2017 and was said to be after a battle with cancer.
Career – Vinod Khanna debuted in Sunil Dutt’s 1968 film Man Ka Meet directed by Adhurti Subba Rao, as a villain where Som Dutt was the hero, which was remake of Tamil film Kumari Penn.
At the start of his career, he played supporting or villainous characters in films such as Purab Aur Paschim, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, and Mastana in 1970, and in Mera Gaon Mera Desh and Elaan in 1971
Vinod Khanna acted in lead roles in many superhit films and is best remembered for his performance in films like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Gaddaar (1973 film), Jail Yatra, Imitihaan, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Inkaar, Kuchhe Dhaage, Amar Akbar Anthony, Rajput, Qurbani, Kudrat, Dayavan, Kaarnama,Suryaa: An Awakening and Jurm.
