Lipstick Under My Burkha is an Indian Hindi film, directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha. The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahna Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in lead roles along with Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibbhav Tatwawdi and Jagat Singh Solanki.
The film’s trailer already has been released on 14th October 2016. The film premiered at the Tokyo and Mumbai Film Festivals, where it won the Spirit of Asia Prize and the Oxfam Award for Best Film on Gender Equality.
Recently, the Censor Board refused to certify the film, stating that ‘The Story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contanious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society.
The film story revolves about four women – burqa-clad college girl, a young beautician, a mother of three and a 55-year-old widow who rediscovers her sexuality. But the censor board refuses to certify the film for release.
