Don 3 is an upcoming action thriller film and it’s the third installment of the Don franchise, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Don 2 ended up with a final gross collections of 2.1 billion (US$31 million) including all versions in 100 Days worldwide. Don 3 release date expected in 2017.
Film Don 2 cast were Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Boman Irani and Kunal Kapoor, with Hrithik Roshan in a cameo appearance.
In October 2015, director Farhan Akhtar said that Don 3 will go on floors by late 2016. However, the film is at scripting stage. It has also been reported that Katrina Kaif / Jacqueline Fernandez / Deepika Padukone will replace Priyanka Chopra in the next installment But the makers denied it stating that the only constant in the third installment will be Don and the rest of the characters will be dependent on the script.
The first edition of this series, ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again‘ was released worldwide on 20 October 2006. It became the fifth highest grossing film of 2006 in India, with revenues of 510 million (US$7.6 million) domestically. Box Office India declared it a hit. It also grossed $7 million in overseas territories and was declared a blockbuster. The film grossed a total of 1.04 billion (US$15 million) worldwide.
Don 2 was made with a production cost of 750 million (US$11 million) excluding SRK’s acting fee with shares in profits which is 650 million (US$9.7 million). According to the news ‘Don 3’ will be a big budget film and full on with super action scenes like Hollywood films.
