Avatar 2 is an upcoming American epic science fiction movie, it’s the sequel of 2009 released film ‘Avatar’, directed, written and produced by James Cameron.
On April 14, 2016, Cameron confirmed that there were now plans for four sequels. Avatar 2 was scheduled for release in December 2018 before being delayed, with the sequels following in December 2020, 2022, and 2023, respectively.
Avatar won the 82nd Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects, and was nominated for a total of nine, including Best Picture and Best Director. Avatar also won the 67th Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director, and was nominated for two others.
At the 36th Saturn Awards, Avatar won all ten awards it was nominated for: Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Writing, Best Music, Best Production Design and Best Special Effects.
In February 2017, it was confirmed that Avatar 2 had entered production and that shooting would start on August 15, 2017, with Manhattan Beach, California as the main shooting location. Cameron confirmed the upcoming shooting, and that the writing of all four sequels was now complete.
The following sequels are expected to start shooting right after Avatar 2 wrapped filming. The following month, Cameron revealed that Avatar 2 would not release in 2018, as originally believed.
