New Zealand defeated to Sri Lanka by 98 runs and won the first match ICC cricket world cup 2015. New Zealand gave 332 runs target to Sri Lanka but Sri Lanka could not achieve the target and all out on 233 runs only and defeated by 98 runs.

New Zealand won the toss and choose to bat first and scored 331 runs on 6 wickets and 50 Overs and gave target of 332 runs to Sri Lanka but Sri Lanka whole team all out on 216 runs on 8 wickets 41.2 overs.

Kane Williamson also scored his 16th one-day half century, while Grant Elliot (29) and Corey Anderson (75) put on 65 runs in 10 overs after leg-spinner Jeevan Mendis had captured two wickets in two balls to slow the co-hosts scoring.
